Troubleshooting

Problem Possible Cause Solution
Engine won't start Empty fuel tank, dead battery, spark plug issue Check fuel level, charge battery, inspect spark plug
Poor cutting performance Dull blade, clogged deck, improper height Sharpen or replace blade, clean deck, adjust cutting height
Uneven cutting Uneven tire pressure, bent blade Check and adjust tire pressure, inspect and replace blade if bent
Self-propel not working Drive cable loose, drive belt worn Adjust drive cable tension, replace drive belt if necessary
Excessive vibration Unbalanced blade, loose parts Balance or replace blade, tighten all bolts and fasteners
Grass clumping Wet grass, cutting too much at once Wait for grass to dry, cut more frequently with smaller height reductions

Maintenance Schedule

  • After each use: Clean underside of deck, check for debris
  • Every 25 hours: Check blade sharpness, inspect air filter
  • Every 50 hours: Change oil (gas models), check spark plug
  • Every 100 hours: Replace air filter, check drive belt
  • Season end: Drain fuel (gas), clean thoroughly, store properly
