Safety Information

Read all instructions before operating. Wear appropriate safety gear.

  1. Clear mowing area of debris, stones, toys, and other objects.
  2. Never operate without proper guards, plates, or grass bag.
  3. Do not mow when grass is wet or during rain.
  4. Keep hands and feet away from rotating parts.
  5. Stop engine and disconnect spark plug before maintenance.

WARNING! Gasoline is flammable; store in approved container away from heat/sparks. Never add fuel while engine is running or hot.

Assembly Instructions

Unpack and inspect all parts. Assembly requires basic tools (included).

  1. Attach handle: Secure upper and lower handle sections with provided bolts.
  2. Install battery: For electric start models, connect battery to wiring harness.
  3. Attach grass bag: Hook bag onto rear deck brackets.
  4. Install side discharge chute (if not mulching): Secure with provided hardware.
  5. Check oil level: Add SAE 30 detergent oil if needed (check dipstick).
  6. Add gasoline: Use fresh unleaded gasoline (87 octane minimum).

CAUTION! Ensure all fasteners are tight before operation. Keep assembly area clear of children and pets.

Controls and Operation

Control Panel: Electric start button, throttle control, choke, blade control lever, Personal Pace control bar, height adjustment lever.

Personal Pace Operation: Squeeze control bar to engage drive; release to stop. Speed adjusts automatically to your walking pace.

Height Adjustment: Move lever to desired setting (1-4). Lower numbers for shorter grass, higher for taller.

Blade Control: Must be engaged for blade to rotate. Release to stop blade while engine runs (Blade Brake Clutch).

Starting & Stopping

Electric Start (if equipped): Insert key, set throttle to FAST, engage blade control, push start button.

  1. Pull Start: Set throttle to FAST, choke if cold, pull starter handle.
  2. Warm Start: No choke needed; throttle at FAST.
  3. Stopping: Release blade control, set throttle to STOP, remove key.

Tip: For electric start, ensure battery is charged. Charge before first use and periodically during season.

Cutting & Mulching

Super Recycler System: Mulches clippings into fine particles that decompose quickly, returning nutrients to lawn.

  1. For mulching: Install mulch plug (included) to close discharge opening.
  2. For bagging: Attach grass bag; ensure chute is clear.
  3. For side discharge: Install discharge chute (optional accessory).
  4. Mowing pattern: Overlap each pass by 2-3 inches for even cut.
  5. Cutting height: Never remove more than 1/3 of grass height in single mowing.
  6. Sharp blade: Ensure blade is sharp for optimal mulching and cutting.

WARNING! Always stop engine and wait for blade to stop before changing cutting mode or clearing chute.
