Assembly Instructions

Unpack and inspect all parts. Assembly requires basic tools (included).

  1. Attach Lower Handle: Secure to deck using provided bolts and washers.

  3. Attach Bag: Hook rear bag onto deck brackets; ensure secure fit.

  5. Connect Battery: For electric start, connect battery cables (red to +, black to -).
  6. Add Oil & Gas: Fill engine with SAE 30 oil (20 oz) and unleaded gasoline.

WARNING! Do not add gasoline during assembly. Keep clear of ignition sources.

First-Time Setup

Starting: Electric: Insert key, turn to START. Recoil: Pull starter cord briskly. Stopping: Release blade control bail.

Personal Pace®: Squeeze lever to engage drive; speed adjusts to your walking pace. Height Adjustment: Move lever to one of 7 positions. Blade Control: Must be held against handle to keep engine running.

Cutting & Discharge Options

Configure for mulching, bagging, or side discharge.

  1. Mulching: Install mulching plug in rear chute; ensure side discharge chute is closed.
  2. Bagging: Attach rear bag; remove mulching plug.
  3. Side Discharge: Remove mulching plug and rear bag; attach side discharge chute.

Tip: For best mulching, mow when grass is dry and cut no more than 1/3 of blade height.

Maintenance Schedule

Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and longevity.

  1. Before Each Use: Check oil level, inspect blade for damage, clear deck of debris.
  2. Every 25 Hours: Change engine oil (SAE 30).
  3. Every Season: Replace air filter, spark plug, sharpen or replace blade.
  4. As Needed: Check tire pressure (12-14 PSI), clean underside of deck, charge battery.

WARNING! Disconnect spark plug wire before performing any maintenance.

Storage Instructions

Prepare mower for off-season storage with SmartStow®.

  1. Drain Fuel: Run engine until tank is empty or add fuel stabilizer.
  2. Clean: Remove grass clippings from deck, wheels, and engine.
  3. Vertical Storage: Engage SmartStow® - fold handle, lift mower onto rear wheels against wall.
