Assembly Instructions

Unpack and inspect all parts. Assemble on a flat, stable surface.

  1. Attach handle: Align lower handle with deck brackets, secure with provided bolts and wing nuts.
  2. Install upper handle: Connect to lower handle, tighten knobs.
  3. Attach grass bag: Hook bag frame onto rear deck brackets.
  4. Install side discharge chute (if using): Attach to discharge opening.
  5. Check oil and fuel: Add oil to engine (SAE 30 recommended) and fuel (unleaded gasoline).

WARNING! Keep hands and feet clear of cutting blade during assembly. Ensure all fasteners are tight.

First-Time Setup

Before first use, complete final checks and adjustments.

  1. Check tire pressure: Inflate to 15 PSI (front) and 10 PSI (rear).
  2. Adjust cutting height: Set lever to desired height (middle position recommended).
  3. Select cutting mode: Install mulch plug, bag, or side discharge chute.
  4. Test Personal Pace®: Engage drive control and walk; mower should move forward smoothly.
  5. Start engine: Follow starting procedure in Controls section.

CAUTION! Always mow in daylight with clear visibility. Clear lawn of debris before mowing.

Controls and Operation

Main controls: Drive control, blade control, height adjustment, and recoil starter.

Starting Procedure:

  1. Check oil and fuel levels.
  2. Push primer bulb 3 times (cold engine).
  3. Set throttle to FAST position.
  4. Pull recoil starter handle firmly.

Operation: Squeeze drive control to engage self-propel. Release to stop. Squeeze blade control to rotate blade. Always overlap passes for even cutting.

Stopping: Release blade control, then drive control. Move throttle to STOP. Wait for blade to stop completely.

Cutting System Setup

Configure for mulch, bag, or side discharge.

  1. Mulching: Install mulch plug; keep deck underside clean.
  2. Bagging: Attach rear bag; empty when full.
  3. Side Discharge: Install discharge chute; direct clippings away from people and objects.

Tip: For best mulching, mow when grass is dry and cut no more than 1/3 of grass height.
