Assembly Instructions

Unpack all parts from the box. Assembly requires basic tools (included).

  1. Attach the handle: Align lower handle with deck brackets, secure with provided bolts and wing nuts.
  2. Install the grass bag: Hook bag onto rear deck brackets; ensure it clicks into place.
  3. Connect the battery: For electric start, connect red (+) then black (-) terminals to battery.
  4. Add oil and fuel: Fill engine with SAE 30 oil (check dipstick). Add unleaded gasoline (87 octane minimum).
  5. Install side-discharge chute (if not mulching): Attach to deck opening with retaining pin.

WARNING! Do not add fuel during assembly or near open flames. Ensure all fasteners are tight.

Safety Information

Read all instructions before operation. Always wear sturdy shoes and eye protection.

  1. Clear mowing area of stones, toys, and debris.
  2. Never mow wet grass or in poor visibility.
  3. Do not allow children or pets in area during mowing.
  4. Disconnect spark plug wire before performing any maintenance.
  5. Use both hands on handle; walk, never run, behind mower.
  6. Do not tip mower on its side while engine is running or hot.

DANGER! Rotating blade can cause severe injury. Keep hands and feet away from deck at all times.

Controls and Operation

Handle Controls: Drive control bar (squeeze to engage drive), Height adjustment lever, Electric start key slot, Throttle control, Recoil starter handle.

Operation: Set height, choose discharge option, start engine, squeeze drive bar to move. Release drive bar to stop movement; engine continues running.

Height Adjustment: Move lever to one of 7 positions (1=lowest, 7=highest). Ensure all wheels are at same setting.

Starting & Stopping

Electric Start (recommended):

  1. Check oil and fuel levels.
  2. Insert key into ignition slot.
  3. Set throttle to FAST position.
  4. Turn key clockwise; release when engine starts.

Recoil Start (backup):

  1. Follow steps 1-3 above.
  2. Pull recoil starter handle briskly.

Stopping:

  1. Release drive control bar.
  2. Move throttle to STOP position.
  3. Remove key (electric start models).
  4. Wait for all moving parts to stop before leaving mower.

Tip: For cold starts, use choke (if equipped) by pulling choke knob out before starting.

Cutting & Discharge Options

3-in-1 System: Configure based on grass conditions.

  1. Mulching: Install mulch plug (closes discharge opening). Cuts clippings finely and returns them to lawn.
  2. Bagging: Attach grass bag. Collects clippings for disposal.
  3. Side-discharge: Install discharge chute. Directs clippings to side (right).

Cutting Tips: Mow when grass is dry. Overlap passes by 2 inches. Change pattern weekly to avoid ruts. Never remove more than 1/3 of grass height at one time.

WARNING! Always stop engine and disconnect spark plug before changing discharge configuration.

Storage & Winterization

  1. Run engine to warm oil, then drain and refill with fresh oil.
  2. Add fuel stabilizer to tank, run engine for 5 minutes to circulate.
  3. Either: (a) Run engine until fuel tank is empty, OR (b) Fill tank completely to prevent condensation.
  4. Clean entire mower, especially underside of deck.
  5. Remove spark plug, add 1 tablespoon of oil to cylinder, pull starter cord slowly to distribute, reinstall plug.
  6. Store in dry, covered area. Protect from moisture.

CAUTION! Never store mower with fuel in tank in enclosed area near open flame or pilot lights.
