Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Engine won't start | Empty fuel tank, old gasoline, clogged air filter | Add fresh fuel, clean/replace air filter, check spark plug |
| Poor cutting performance | Dull blade, low engine speed, wet grass | Sharpen/replace blade, adjust throttle, wait for grass to dry |
| Uneven cutting | Uneven tire pressure, bent blade, deck clogged | Check tire pressure, inspect/replace blade, clean deck |
| Excessive vibration | Unbalanced blade, loose components, bent crankshaft | Balance/replace blade, tighten all bolts, check engine mount |
| Loss of power | Dirty air filter, old fuel, clogged fuel line | Clean air filter, drain old fuel, check fuel system |
| Self-propel not working | Drive cable adjustment, worn drive belt, debris in drive | Adjust drive cable, replace belt, clean drive system |
Common Issues & Solutions
- Hard Starting: Use fresh gasoline (less than 30 days old), ensure choke is properly set
- Engine Stalls: Check fuel cap vent, clean carburetor, adjust idle speed
- Poor Mulching: Ensure mulch plug is installed, mow when grass is dry, don't cut more than 1/3 of grass height
- Won't Self-Propel: Check drive engagement lever, inspect drive belt, clean drive wheels
- Oil Leaks: Check drain plug, inspect gaskets, ensure proper oil level
- Excessive Noise: Check for loose parts, inspect blade balance, examine engine mounts
